The Cross at the Crossroads is certainly an engineering wonder, but its greatest miracle is its call to travelers from every faith, background and circumstance, reminding them of the positive values shared and cherised by all. Located on the south side of Effingham, stands nineteen stories tall along side one of America's most traveled Insterestate corridors. Approximately 53,600 people view the 198-foot tall symbol of love and hope each day. The open arms of the Cross, which expand 113 feet, are a welcoming signal to the approaching travelers. This site is also host to several community events, including an Easter sunrise and memorial services. During the month of December, The Cross has over 100 Nativity sets on display in the Chapel area of the Welcome Center. The Welcome Center at The Cross is open from 10am to 4pm November to April; 10am to 7pm May to October.
