Each year, downtown Effingham is transformed into an artist’s mecca as artists from all over the region set up shop on the lawn of the Historic Court House Museum and surrounding downtown area in Effingham. The Annual Effingham Artisan Fair kicks off Friday, so come out and join the Effingham community for the “Arts & Hearts” celebration. This year, we are again expanding to include an “Artist Soft Opening,” where over 30 artists will display their art for the community one day early. From 5 to 8 p.m. a variety of events will be held to raise awareness for the arts in the community, including a live art auction benefiting Community Support Systems, not-for-profit community informational booths, and along with TREC BIG WHEEL races. TREC races will begin at 5:15 p.m., with a Kids Bike Race and then the Adult Big Wheel Race will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Art Auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. We will also have live music in the wine and beer tasting area.
In addition, we’ve brought bourbon tasting to the ever popular beer & wine tasting. Friday evening will also include a food fair featuring Martin’s IGA, Sausage Haus, Dad's Smokin' Butt BBQ, Joe's Pizza & Pasta and The Dog. We’re also offering some specialty food for all you food-lovers, including Oma Gisi’s German Bakery, The Cookie Jar and Tropical Sno both Friday and Saturday. As mentioned, as part of the event, the Artisan Fair features wine, bourbon and beer tasting. There will be approximately 6 regional wineries and several different craft beers available for tasting. This event will open from 5 – 10 p.m. Friday. You can also enjoy some great live music throughout the evening. The Historic Court House Museum will also be open both Friday evening and Saturday for tours.
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Downtown is transformed into an art gallery with works from over 30 artists, on display for purchase. Artwork for sale includes oil paintings, pottery, jewelry, and sculptures. Several artists will demonstrate their craft at the event. As part of the event, the Artisan Fair features wine and beer tasting. There will be approximately 6 regional wineries and several different craft beers available for tasting. This event will open from 12 – 5 p.m. Other activities include the Kids Korner, food fair (including IGA, Sausage Haus, The Dog, Joe's Pizza & Pasta, Dad's Smokin' Butt BBQ, The Cookie Jar and Tropical Sno) and live musical entertainment at the wine/beer tent. We’re also thrilled to bring you an added bonus for Saturday in the downtown area. The Downtown Effingham Business Group is hosting an "Art Crawl." Several businesses will be hosting some sort of "art/entertainment" in their stores Friday evening and all day Saturday. Pickup a passport at the Artisan Fair's information booth, get it stamped at the stores and bring it back to Stang Arts to be entered to win "Downtown Dollars." Be sure to enjoy our beautiful downtown and all it has to offer. For more information, visit the Downtown Business Group's Facebook page.
